Home Depot and Hands On Birmingham Team up
to help The Wildlife Center

In celebration of Martin Luther King Day, Hands on Birmingham gathered volunteers from Home Depot to help The Wildlife Center complete some much needed construction projects.

Volunteers built shelving to hold the many pet carriers, baskets, and aquariums used in housing the animals cared for at The Wildlife Center.

They also built a kitchenette area that Wildlife Center staff and volunteers can use to prepare meals and snacks during their long hard hours at work.  The kitchenette was also badly needed for events that are held at the Center.

The third major project was to build feeding stations to enable baby raptors to be fed without exposure to humans.  This project required installing small viewing windows to determine if the young raptors are eating. Many other valuable projects were also completed by the hardworking volunteers, such as cleaning animal containers and organizing archives of animal care records.

The Wildlife Center is very grateful for the wonderful work that was done!

"Someone donated that countertop to us in February of 2000 and I have been trying to find someone to volunteer to install it for the past 3 years!  I never imagined I would get these great cabinets to go along with it! I'm so excited!"
