AWC's educational mission is focused on the interface between the people and the wild birds of Alabama. Our educational programs are designed to create greater understanding that each of us is a member of an ecosystem, and that our daily activities have direct consequences for other members of our ecosystem, as well as for the air, land, and water that support us all.

The Alabama Wildlife Center’s educational programs are greatly enhanced by the participation of our education birds. AWC staff and volunteers work together with the four birds to provide interesting and informative programs for schools, scouts and civic groups. Visitors are fascinated by the calm and majestic bearing of these seldom-seen birds. By featuring live birds during educational programs, we are able to offer visitors an up-close experience with a live raptor as they learn about the important role that predatory birds play in maintaining healthy ecosystems.
Programs are available by appointment only and must be made in advance.
